New expression – cognitive miser

What do we call people that are naturally inclined to minimise cognitive effort?

Efficient: not necessarily. Efficiency can involve substantial thought.

Lazy: colloquially close, but too much of a pejorative.

Dumb: wrong concept. Intelligence and willingness to expend cognitive effort are different things.

Ignorant: wrong concept. Concerns knowledge, not effort.

Conservative. Yes but it’s a correlation not a causation.

Exposed to AI: potentially a consequence, not the underlying trait.

Cognitive miser: someone inclined to conserve mental effort and rely on heuristics, routines or existing rules rather than engage in effortful reasoning.
