Don’t panic

This was one of my first jobs – undercutting small mountains of coal so they’d go through a grill into a conveyor below.
The rough idea – this was how coal got from trucks and trains onto the conveyors that took the coal to the mills, where it got turned into powder before being sent into the boilers.
Occasionally I’d get buried in coal and I’d just have to wait for the conveyor belt to deplete the coal.
Overalls, yes. Hardhat, no.
