Complexosis
Science, climate, the economy; these are very complex systems.
So your average person needs an expert to use them. To translate from jargon into English, to give simple binary recommendations and to help with general awareness.
You have the real experts that are generally smart enough to keep their opinions to themselves.
You have your celebrity experts that know just enough, or not. They tend to be at the acting end of human skill set.
You also have spivs that purposefully misinterpret the tea leaves. Or just make shit up. Gotta earn a living somehow.
Roddie just sent me a video of some economics spiv attached with a very useful “nailed it”. Complexosis.
The basic premise of this interview was that the bad people, bankers, have the means but not the interest in ensuring that the global economy grows by 10% per year.
They apparently love those economic cycles because it gives them an opportunity to steal your money, or sumint.
What I don’t understand is why Roddie listens or cares. By any sensible measure, he’s had a really good deal out of life. Even financially, he’s managed to build an international property portfolio out of scabbing.
What is the source of his discontent? My guess is that he compares his trajectory and circumstances with some imagined alternative. God knows and I don’t want to, either.
Said discontent is a common motivating force for people to buy complexosis.
It involves suspending disbelief or ensuring you don’t have to, by being completely ignorant. This comes naturally to many.
After all, complexosis is better than resolving your own situation. That looks like hard work, dunnit?
Looked at another way, complexosis is a market opportunity created by bankers, scientists and economists through their complete disinterest in the end consumer.
