The Shakespeare Test
I listened to this blog on the subject of LLMs. These IT geeks discussed the moment they knew the transformer model was a game changer for AI: it was when they got their prototype LLM to write a poem that amazed a mate that just happened to be a “real” poet.
So I thought, let’s give it a go. It’s eight years later and the models are that much better.
So, “ChatGPT, write me a poem with these lines as the core value proposition ‘She looked away and then looked properly'”
Yeah I know, ‘value proposition’ is a business term. But I wasn’t in the mood to switch on my internal thesaurus.
This is what I got…
“The years had settled where we left them
Among receipts and half-read books
Nothing asked to be remembered
Nothing asked for a second look
The afternoon went on regardless
The light changed sides without a sound
Something shifted, almost nowhere
She looked away and then looked properly”
Not taking over the world any day soon!
