Of course Raymond Carver made the same point but much more eloquently … let’s call it the artistic form of Occam’s Razor applied to our connective psychology.

“And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so?

And what did you want?

To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.”

And there’s so much water so close to home …
