Scary stuff

I read somewhere that stable atoms (as opposed to radioactive elements) have a maximum lifetime imposed by the lifetime of a proton which is greater than 10³⁴ years.

The present age of the universe is 10¹⁰ years so you could argue that we have only just over 10²⁴ years left before we all get sub atomized.
