The reason that young kids have bad memories is because they would, most of the time, be bored shitless otherwise.

There is an odd side effect to having inherent resource wealth in this country.

The incoming wealth allows us to keep minimum wages relatively high. And so we attempt to export all of our low income work, or replace labour with machines

But there are jobs in the services, in the trades and the like that are still resisting exportation and technology. Thank god.

I meet young people, cooks, glass cutters, cleaners, that are having a great party life. They are relatively poor especially in regards to real estate but they all have disposable income.

Most of them have been to Bali. Not many Balinese have been to Australia.

I have noticed that some start getting bitter as they age. When the partying gets old, they somehow start sensing the lost opportunities.

And as night follows day they become conspiracy theorists. Lacking the education and wisdom required to unravel the bullshit the default position is that they are being had. Which implies that they think that they are unlucky in some way.

Maybe they are. Affluence without education and wisdom might be a curse. Especially in this era of technology complexity and information overload.
