As a discipline, forecasting used to inform decision making.
That is, the only point of forecasting is to inform action.
And now there a new discipline – decision making under uncertainty – which adds one step: deciding what to do given that forecast.
Seems like they’ve just wrapped a degree around the bleeding obvious. But, hey, what do I know?
