Apparently 60% of new cars made in China have these Elon Musk-brain farts. What a cargo cult!
They have banned them because a few cars have ended up in the water, or caught fire, or have had big accidents, lost power to the door handles, and rescuers haven’t been able to save the occupants by opening the doors.
That is, they’ve banned them because, rather inconveniently, doors with retractable handles sometimes stop being doors after a crash.
When did the Chinese government start caring so much about their people?
Not caring about them used to be their super power.
