Me, I would reserve “profound” for the fall of, say, the Roman Empire. As any good journalist should know there’s only so many juicy words in the common dictionary.

If you devalue your best words thusly, then you’re going to have to become a neologist when it will be least appreciated.

I guess when you’re that deluded, needs must and all that.
